Introduction to CEFR

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an international standard for describing and assessing language proficiency. The CEFR is a tool that helps describe what language learners can do at different stages of learning. It also helps compare tests and exams across languages and countries. The CEFR uses a six-point scale to describe language ability, from A1 for beginners to C2 for those who have mastered a language. The levels can be regrouped into three broad levels: Basic User, Independent User, and Proficient User.
